Terms of Service

Last updated 29 August 2026

Wait, Professor is a subscription. You name a topic, and two characters — Thorne and Mila — build and teach you a course on it. These terms cover what you are buying, what it costs, and how to stop paying for it.

What you're buying

A subscription to Wait, Professor. While it is active you can create as many courses as you like on any topic, work through the lessons, and get a recap built from the parts you asked Mila to explain again. There is no free tier and no usage allowance to run out of.

Wait, Professor runs on iPhone. If you subscribe here on the website, the next step is installing the app from the App Store and signing in with the same account — your subscription is already attached to it. There is no browser version. If you do not have an iPhone, this subscription will not be usable, and you should not buy it.

Courses you have already built stay readable if your subscription lapses. Building new ones does not.

What it costs

Bought on this website: $15.99 per month or $99.99 per year, charged in US dollars or the local equivalent that Dodo Payments shows you at checkout before you pay. Tax is added where your country requires it, and the total you see at checkout is the total you are charged.

Bought inside the app, Apple sets the price for your region and it is usually higher — the App Store takes a larger cut than Dodo Payments does, and we pass that difference on rather than pocketing it. The app also carries a 3-day free trial, which this website does not; a subscription bought here starts and is charged immediately.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price until you cancel. If a price ever changes, the change applies from your next renewal and we will tell you before it takes effect.

Cancelling

Cancel whenever you like. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Where you cancel depends on who sold it to you: a subscription bought in the app is managed by Apple, in Settings on your device; one bought on this website is managed by Dodo Payments, through the billing portal the app links you to.

Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds

If you subscribe on this website and it is not for you, write to us within 14 days and we will refund you in full. No conditions, and you do not have to explain yourself. This is deliberately generous because the product runs on iPhone and nothing on this page can prove to you in advance that it will suit the way you learn.

Email tim@waitprofessor.com from the address you subscribed with. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Dodo Payments, and usually take a few working days to appear.

Refunds for subscriptions bought inside the app are Apple’s to give, not ours — request one through Apple’s Report a Problem page. Nothing here removes any statutory right you have, including the right of withdrawal if you are in the UK or the EU.

Who you're buying from

For subscriptions bought on this website, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Dodo Payments, who is the merchant of record for all our orders. Dodo Payments provides all customer service enquiries relating to billing and handles returns. That is why your bank statement says Dodo Payments rather than Wait, Professor.

For subscriptions bought inside the app, Apple is the merchant of record and their terms apply to the transaction.

Using it fairly

One subscription is for one person. Do not share your account, resell access, or try to automate course generation in bulk — it is an expensive thing to run per lesson, and abuse is the only reason we would ever have to introduce a limit.

AI-generated content

Everything Wait, Professor generates is text. A course is a syllabus and written lessons, and that is the whole of it. The app generates no images, no video and no audio, and it has no feature that takes one as input.

It follows that nothing here can produce a person. There is no image or face generation, no face swapping, no voice cloning, and no synthesis of any real person’s face, body, likeness or voice — not in the app, not on this website, and not in anything we advertise.

Thorne and Mila, the two characters who teach the courses, are fixed illustrations drawn for this app. They are the same drawings every time. They are not generated, and they are not based on, modelled on, or derived from any real person.

The written lessons are produced by a language model. It is very good and it is not infallible: check anything that matters against a real source before you rely on it in an exam or at work. We cannot promise a particular grade or outcome, only that the material will be explained in a way you can follow.

Ending it from our side

We can suspend or close an account that is being used to abuse the service or to break the law. If we do that without cause, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that affects what you are paying for, we will update the date at the top and tell you before the change applies to your subscription.
